Diet and fatty liver
Once fatty liver disease has been diagnosed, the next step is to start the right regimen. In addition to any medications your doctor may prescribe, it’s essential to follow a low-fat diet.
Now, we offer you some recommendations:
Reduce your consumption of refined products: this group includes white flour and sugar. Opt for whole grains and whole-wheat products instead.
Follow a Mediterranean diet: it’s one of the healthiest diets available, as it’s based on various foods low in fat or with healthy fats.
Avoid alcohol: it’s one of the liver’s biggest enemies. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead not only to fatty liver disease (steatosis) but also to cirrhosis.
Avoid certain medications: consult your doctor to understand which medications might be harmful if you have fatty liver disease.
Exercise: regular exercise helps the liver function properly. It’s advisable to exercise at least three times a week.
Keep in mind that while rest is important, it’s essential to do some exercise every day to aid in recovery and simultaneously support the health of the rest of your body. So, don’t completely rule out that 30-40 minute walk a day, or your stretching session.
