Maternal love—steadfast, predictable, and calm—struggles to compete in a world that rewards novelty and constant stimulation. This doesn’t mean it lacks value, but rather that it is often overlooked.
7. Unspoken Wounds Passed On:
Many mothers were daughters who felt ignored, unappreciated, or emotionally neglected. Upon becoming mothers, they may unconsciously try to heal those old wounds by giving more than is healthy, hoping to receive from their children what they never had.
When a woman’s identity becomes completely tied to motherhood, her children perceive this emotional dependence. Even if they can’t express it, they feel responsible for her happiness. Distance then becomes an unconscious way of saying, “I can’t bear this burden.”
Reflections and kind guidance:
Begin to honor your own worth without waiting for validation, even from your children.
Allow yourself to set boundaries and express tiredness or personal needs.
Separate your child’s behavior from your worth as a mother.
